I’m sharing my home with you – my followers – to let you into my world from the perspective of my camera. There are many perspectives one could see and photograph in one spot. I’ve learned from my brother, who takes amazing landscape photos, to take lots of pictures in the same spot. My photographs definately do not measure up to his; but he has given me a few hints over the last few years that have helped improve my photos. He advised me to take LOTS of photos, take them at dusk or dawn and don’t use the flash – ever! If he told me anything else, I don’t remember:)
My daughter told me to focus on the object of attention not in the center of the photograph. I also followed some advice from “The Pioneer Woman” using my “Manuel” setting and controlling the shutter speed and aperture manually. I don’t understand those terms totally yet – so I just look at the display screen on my camera and keep changing the settings until it looks the best. I’ve also gotten in the habit of always using the “Vivid” setting to capture everything brighter than it normally is. I do not use Photo Shop or any program to adjust my photos. However, I add text with Windows Paint. I’m dreaming of someday owning an advanced Graphics Program and working on my Book Dream: The ABC’s of Country Cottage Living.
Anyways, with all this advice I am definately taking better photos than I did a year ago. So, I’m going after my Dreams which includes Country Cottage Living: repurposing items, gardening, cooking, decorating, canning, blogging, styling, photography, etc. (By the way, my favorite accent color right now is orange!)
What are your dreams? Follow after them; even if it’s only one baby step at a time.
*The large pots of Geraniums on the Patio in the first and last photo are about 6 years old. We put them in the garage every year before the first frost and then take them out when there is no danger of frost in late spring.
