Good Book Reviews: The House at Sugar Beach

This book was amazing because it was a true story about Africa and more specifically, Liberia. Helene Cooper tells her childhood story of a privileged family who have it all until her loving Father divorces her Mother and her country falls apart. Much of her family was able to flee to America except her adopted sister. This story begins when she was a spoiled child and ends in her attempt to find her long lost sister as an adult. It was truly an amazing story.

Good Book Reviews: The Girls From Ames

This book reflects the lives of 11 women who all grew up in Ames, Iowa. They were, and still are, a group of tightly knit friends who grew up in the same city and they continued to be friends even after they all moved away and had careers and/or family. They get together still and email one another with support;  they remain close, as now they are in their forties. This book tells each of their stories, their ups and downs in their friendships and how their friendships sustain them through life’s ups and downs.

Good Book Reviews: The Forgotten Garden

This amazing book is Long and one of those “you can’t put down!” It has a lot of characters, mystery, history, gardens, and it was the BEST! You will not solve the mystery of who Nell’s real parents are until the very end.

Good Book Reviews: The Sweet By and By

This lovely book was written by one of my newly favorite Country Artists, Sara Evans. It was well written and basically, I could not put it down. It is the story of Jade growing up in a Country Prairie Town. Her daddy left when she was 8 years old, her Mama left most of the time after that, and she had to raise her sister a lot on her own. She did have her Granny and Pap…but she mostly relied on herself. All Grown Up and ready to marry a wonderful, successful man, she faces her past, her mother and finds healing in a surprising spot…

Good Book Review: One Man’s Wilderness

One Man’s Wilderness is about a man who moves to a remote area in Alaska at the age of 50, builds himself a cabin and survives happily mostly alone and on his own. He was very intelligent and independent. He followed a dream and even took pictures and video. His journals and pictures are all in this book. My husband read it through very quickly (which says a lot). The DVD is very interesting and all ages will enjoy!
