This book tells the story of a young girl growing up during the Depression in the state of Iowa. She is raised by a single mother and her grandpa and grandma. She tells of beekeeping, gardening routines, snow blizzards, special teachers, the “Big Kids” and the “Little Kids” and much more. With no electricity or indoor plumbing, but a lot of land and love, Mildred and her family not only survived but had favorite nights with games and songs and popcorn and a special day of picnicking. Everyone around her grew up with Christian values but when the Big Kids and Little Kids were alone they would practice swearing and farting and they knew they were being bad. You gotta love it!
