Free Junkie Fridays: Dump Bar Stools

We needed a couple of bar stools for our Island in our Kitchen. But, as usual, we didn’t want to pay the going rate.

Country Bar Stools from Dump

I found these perfect, backed, swivelly, Country Bar Stools at our local dump. I had to pay $10 for them; but it was still a deal! Then we started painting!

We painted them white and added some Red Garage Sale Cushions (each for 50 cents).

Beautiful and Inexpensive Bar Stools

Next time, take a look around at your local dump and see what treasure awaits you!

Wall of Inspiration

Ah, Sovereign Lord

My sister-in-law, Gitti, sent me some photos of a remodel of her guest room in her Country Cottage Home. She writes me,

There’s a new paint job (Kind of a latte color), and new base trim. I decided I wanted to make my guest room inviting, cozy and inspriational.  So one wall is starting to be filled with words of inspiration.   I’ve added a welcome tapestry/banner and some books and magazines to read.  It’s not done yet, but so far, so good…

Words to Inspire us are always welcome and can make a difference! Thanks for sharing Gitti!

Free Junkie Fridays – Wooden Outdoor Chair

Thanks to my friend Liz, who called and gave me the heads-up about this free chair she saw 3 minutes from her house (and my house). It needs a few extra nails and some stain and it’s good to sit in my backyard and be oh so adorable!!! I’ll show you the finished chair in the weeks to come! Thanks Liz!

Free Junkie Fridays – Green Bookshelf; Decorative Painting Project

Before Paint BEFORE
After cleaning out the garage, I decided to use this old cabinet for a new use; I took off the door and painted it GREEN! (with oops! paint I already had on the shelf) (oops! paint is paint stores sell that was a mistake or someone returned it) Often-times you can get a gallon for $5!

AFTER

After Picture of Green Bookshelf
I had to put 4 coats on it – but it turned out good with some gardening knick-knacks on it in the corner of our living room.
Hint: I always try to keep extra sponge paint brushes and rollers/trays, paint stirrers on hand for WHEN THE MOOD STRIKES. I am very spontaneous and when I get an idea – I don’t want to have to go to the hardware store.

Free Junkie Fridays – Corner Cupboard Transformed; Decorative Painting Project

Free Corner Cupboard BEFORE
I found this “piece of junk” by the road – “FREE” marked on the sides. I saw beauty…
Free Corner Cupboard Transformed AFTER
Using paint I had on the shelf, and some help from my niece Diana and daughter Anna, we scrubbed it clean and painted a light pale yellow. It sits in a corner of our kitchen where it holds place mats, napkins and the stereo for a little music while we cook!
